This artwork portrays the history surrounding Black beauty, specifically hair; Nowadays, black women in America are embracing their natural hair which was not always the case. Hair types such as curls, coils and kinks did not fall into beauty standards. Many faced discriminations in the workplace. Hair is so essential to our identity however it is often misunderstood by people outside of our culture, black women must be proud of their color, their culture, and their identity so that others will also value them.
